Using 3D laser scanning technology you can obtain important detailed and inaccessible dimensional data otherwise very difficult to obtain using older methods like conventional surveying or the tape measure with paper and pencil. Once this scan data is collected by the scanner in the form of xyz point data then 2D drawings can be developed or 3D models created to depict the "as-is" condition of the structure, building, or facility.
